Since June 30, 2002, China has carried out trials of "gasoline alcohol" in Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Nanyang, Harbin, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and parts of Jilin and Anhui, and has been successful.
On the basis of the success of the above four provincial pilots, the National Development and Reform Commission decided on February 10 this year to extend the pilot to four provinces in Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, and Jiangsu, and plans to end up in 8 pilot provinces and cities by the end of 2005.
