Jiangsu started pesticide remediation

The remediation project for the chlordane mirage contaminated site at Xinhai Chemical Factory in Liyang City, Jiangsu Province, funded by the Global Environment Facility, was launched recently.
It is understood that the Xinhai Chemical Plant located in Fuyang City of Changzhou City was built in 1987. During the period from 1998 to 2004, 975 tons of chlordane crude oil was produced. In 1998-2002, 25 tons of miricide mellow powder was cumulatively produced. Chlordane and termite were destroyed. Spirit production line was completely shut down in June 2007. Due to the serious soil pollution in the plant area and high environmental risks, it was determined as a demonstration site for site restoration.
Lin Yusuo, a researcher at the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said that this demonstration project will clean up and harmlessly dispose of production facilities, workshops, and contaminated soil, which is typical in China.
