Chrysler Koanzer: China has not arrived yet

With the slogan "Not all Jeep are Jeep," Chrysler has regained momentum in the world. How will the US auto giant, who has been on the brink of bankruptcy for many times, grab the Chinese market? After many years of quitting China's mass production market, when do they plan to return to China? The reporter interviewed Ke Anzhe, Vice President of Chrysler Group Co., Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific.

Reporter: Chrysler entered a period of rapid recovery in the world. In June, you sold 120,400 vehicles in the U.S. market, the highest monthly sales record since 2007. In China, you have always emphasized your dominant position in the SUV field. Will Fiat's technology be used to introduce a compact SUV in the future?

Ke Anzhe: In the United States, Chrysler Automobile and Fiat have produced products that match the Fiat 500 engine. This cooperation is conducive to the development of small-emission, low-emission engines and advanced gearbox systems. This is a valuable asset for Chrysler and Fiat. In the future, we will continue to maintain the advantages of cooperation and explore the possibility of cooperation in smaller SUV models.

Reporter: How does the three major brands of Chrysler divide the work? In China, which market segments are Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler each major in the future? How do you plan to develop in China in 2011?

Ke Anzhe: Jeep brand strategy is very clear, but also our focus, Jeep brand will cover all SUV market segments in the future, including compact, seven-seat models and so on. In addition, we will also consider developing a larger SUV than the Grand Cherokee; Chrysler mainly focuses on the car industry. If we introduce DaJieLong and the 300C to China, we may make some improvements, such as changing the engine, etc.; as for the Dodge brand. Mainly for cross-border SUVs.

In 2010, Chrysler’s sales reached 23,000 units, which was almost double that of 2009; this year, we plan to sell about 40,000 units, doubling the sales volume and market share.

Reporter: Everyone has been concerned about Chrysler's domestic production. The joint venture between GAC Group and Fiat has already been established. Fiat is also a shareholder of Chrysler. Everyone is looking forward to your production of new products at GAC Fiat. Is it possible to re-create domestic products in China in the future?

Ke Anzhe: Domestic need to wait patiently. When we really start domestically, we must introduce the latest and most synchronized products to China. According to the current situation analysis, 12 months to 24 months are exactly one cycle of Chrysler's launch of new products. In this product cycle of 2013 and 2014, Chrysler will have a full range of new products, including small SUVs and seven SUVs. The changes in new products are not only appearance but also powertrain. For example, we hope to apply high-end transmissions to mass-produced products.
