Car into building in Glenview 4-24-14

11:28AM, Thursday, April 24, 2014. TRT3 has been dispatched to CFS:13, Mutual Aid. Location: 3980 Triumvera Dr, GV, NM. APT #: GRID:9999. Date/Time: 04/24/2014 11:28:29. From RED CTR.
This was a call about a car that crashed into a building. I didn’t hear the Glenview dispatch, but I did hear RED Center sending Engine 1 and TRT3. I was on Central Road heading to NIPSTA for a MABAS meeting, so I took it in cold. When I arrived, I saw the car had crashed into the garage, and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the area. I parked about 100 yards or more away from the scene. GV had a line laid out and was working to shut off the gas. I’m not sure if there were any injuries. As soon as I got to the command post, Battalion 6 returned TRT3, E1, and some GV units.

It was pretty tense being close enough to see the damage but far enough to stay safe. The gas smell was really noticeable, and I could tell they were taking it seriously. I stayed for a while and saw several units responding, including some local fire companies. It’s always strange to witness these kinds of incidents up close. I just hope everyone involved was okay.
