Car into building in Glenview 4-24-14

This was a car that crashed into a building. I didn't hear the initial Glenview dispatch, but I did hear RED Center sending Engine 1 and TRT3. I was on Central Road heading to NIPSTA for a MABAS meeting, so I took it in cold. When I arrived, I saw the car had smashed into the garage, and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the air. I parked about 100 yards or more away from the scene. GV had a line laid out and was working to shut off the gas. I don't know if anyone was injured. As soon as I got to the command post, Battalion 6 sent TRT3 and E1 back, along with some GV companies.

I remember the area well—Triumvera Drive is pretty quiet, so this kind of incident really caught me off guard. The smell of gas was pretty intense, and you could tell the crews were being extra cautious. It’s always strange when something like this happens in an otherwise normal neighborhood. I stayed for a while to get a few shots, just to document what was going on. The fire department handled it quickly, and I think they managed to contain everything before it got worse. Definitely one of those days where you realize how important emergency response is.
