Commemorative beer can to support local charity

Excerpts from Firehouse.com:

Old Style is once again celebrating Chicago’s brave firefighters with a special limited-edition commemorative can, following the success of its debut last fall. This year's campaign is all about honoring the city’s heroes and giving back to those who have served. A portion of every sale will go to the Ende, Menzer, Walsh and Quinn (EMWQ) Retirees’, Widows’ and Children’s Assistance Fund, an organization that supports the families of Chicago firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The commemorative can has become a popular collectible among locals and beer lovers alike. This year, it’s available in 24-packs, 12-packs, and 16-ounce cans from July through early September or while supplies last. Old Style is also increasing its donation this year, pledging at least $10,000 and up to $20,000 to the cause. It’s a great way for fans to support a meaningful cause while enjoying their favorite brew.

Old Style has deep roots in Chicago, and the Chicago Heroes program is just one way the brand continues to give back. The design on the can features a firefighter image and highlights the work of EMWQ. You can find the cans at local retailers across Chicagoland, making it easy for residents to show their support.

"When we launched the Chicago Heroes program last year, it was a powerful way to recognize the everyday heroes who keep our city safe," said Dan McHugh, CMO of Pabst Brewing Co. "We chose EMWQ as our partner because of their incredible impact on firefighters and their families. The funds from last year helped many families with essentials like education and bills. We’re excited to bring the can back and continue making a difference."

Last year’s campaign provided much-needed financial relief to several families, helping them cover basic needs and even pay off debts. This year, the expanded packaging options—now including 12- and 24-pack cases—will allow more people to get involved and contribute to the cause.

The EMWQ Assistance Fund has been supporting the families of Chicago firefighters for over two decades. Each year, they provide annual gifts to widows receiving pensions between $1,000 and $1,500 and to orphans of fallen firefighters. They also offer immediate aid to children of active members who lost their lives on or off duty. Thanks to community support and events like their charity softball game, the fund has given out over $10 million in assistance.

Old Style is proud to be part of this legacy and to help make a real difference in the lives of those who protect our city.

Thanks, Dan.
