REC's first silicon material technology application and R&D center established in China
The United States REC Renewable Energy Group recently announced that its REC Silicon Materials Company will establish its first silicon material technology application and research and development (STAR) center in Shangyu, Zhejiang Province, and will officially open this year. While providing localized technical development support and training for REC customers, the center will also assist customers in the evaluation of single crystal silicon ingot and polysilicon ingot production, silicon raw materials, equipment and processes.
According to reports, the center will be wholly-owned by REC Silicon Materials. REC has established a partnership with Zhejiang Jingsheng Electromechanical Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of polysilicon ingot furnaces headquartered in Shangyu, Zhejiang. The two sides will carry out research cooperation at the center to explore new product attributes and processes.
