8.2 million new registered motor vehicles exceeded 300 million in motor vehicle inventory in the first quarter

According to statistics from the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, as of the end of March 2017, the number of vehicles in the country exceeded 300 million for the first time, of which 200 million were automobiles; and 364 million were motorists, of which 320 million were motorists.

The reporter learned that as of the end of March this year, the country’s motor vehicle fleet exceeded 300 million vehicles for the first time, reaching 300,280,590 vehicles. Twelve provinces have more than 10 million motor vehicles and over 20 million in Guangdong, Shandong and Henan provinces. In the first quarter of 2017, 8.2 million new motor vehicles were registered in the country, which was basically the same as the same period of last year.

At the same time, as of the end of March this year, the country’s car ownership exceeded 200 million vehicles for the first time, reaching 200192782, accounting for 66.67% of the total number of motor vehicles. There are 49 cities in the country with more than 1 million cars, and 19 cities have more than 2 million cars, of which Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Shenzhen have more than 3 million cars.

In addition, as of the end of March this year, the total number of motorists in the country has exceeded 364 million, a total increase of 6.83 million in the first quarter, an increase of 2.09%.
