Accurately obtaining such velocity distributions, density fields, turbulent pulsations, and aero-optical wavefronts as the flow conditions under such extreme mechanical conditions, the inability of traditional test and measurement techniques has always been regarded as plagued development of related air and space weapons, aerospace and missile equipment. Aiming at the broad prospects for the application of supersonic flow field measurement technology, the project has been under the leadership of Yi Shihe, an aerodynamic expert, since the project was established in 2003. Under the cohesive focus of the research team members, a planar laser with nanometer tracing has been proposed. New principles and new methods of scattering technology, invented the integration and operation technology of NPLS test system, supersonic flow field nanometer tracing technology, nano-tracked supersonic flow field tomography technology, and the first “supersonic flow field NPLS test system” was realized. The visualization of the flow field of the aircraft and the high-resolution test measurement of flow field velocity field, density field, turbulent pulsation, and aero-optic wavefront are the objectives of the “clear and fine measurement” of the supersonic flow field. It solved the key technical problems related to aerodynamic design and precision guidance in the long-term domestic major model development, and significantly improved the independent innovation and research and development capabilities of China's spacecraft development.

At present, the main research results of this project have been widely used in the development of Chinese aerospace vehicle research and development units, aircraft aerodynamic research units, and colleges and universities' aerospace weapons and equipment, and have been acquired in the major basic research of supersonic turbulence that is highly concerned in the aerospace field. A number of important results.

So far, the "Supersonic Flow Field NPLS Test System and Application" project has applied for 30 patents, has been authorized 16 items, 2 software works, published 1 monograph, published more than 150 academic papers, including SCI search 70 Articles.
