New wireless sensor adds speed to drilling speed

The explosion of the industrial instrumentation in China's instrumentation network has brought us to a fast-changing world. At the same time, it has tied us closely to oil and energy. It is not just the need for oil for automobiles, but also for petroleum, medicine, and construction. Derivatives, oil can be described as ubiquitous in our lives. Nowadays, the contradiction between oil and gas supply and demand has become increasingly prominent. Faced with such a situation, China must rapidly increase the level of exploration and development and concentrate its efforts on the research and development of the instrument.

As the main component of information acquisition and information transmission in petroleum exploration and development, sensors play a decisive role in improving the quality of related instruments and equipment. The development trend of drilling speed, large-scale exploration and development of oil fields, and streamlining of oil field-related units have raised higher requirements for integrated logging sensor acquisition technologies.

In order to effectively solve the problems of ease of use, safety, and economical efficiency of existing sensor technologies, the Instrument R&D Center of Logging Corporation of Zhongyuan Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. has initiated research projects to develop integrated low-power wireless sensors and photovoltaic charging modules. Wireless sensors. The use of wireless sensor acquisition technology can effectively solve the problems of traditional wired sensors such as installation and wiring difficulties, vulnerability to external forces, and inconvenience of expansion.

Because the downhole environment is characterized by high temperature, high pressure, strong chemical corrosion, and strong electromagnetic interference, it makes it difficult for conventional sensors to function well downhole. However, wireless sensors have unique advantages in these aspects. It will become a new technology with broad market prospects that can be applied to petroleum exploration and development.

After on-site testing, the wireless sensor developed by the Instrument R&D Center has achieved design indicators such as low cost, stable performance, high transmission efficiency, and strong battery life, which can better adapt to the fast-paced drilling mode, significantly improving on-site operation efficiency, and reducing on-site use of personnel. The workload is thus better served by oil exploration and development.
