Two key domestic valves for oil and gas pipelines passed field acceptance

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] Recently, there have been new developments in the development of a major science and technology project “Localization of key equipment for oil and gas pipelines”. A domestically produced pressure balanced plug valve and an axial flow check valve developed by the China National Offshore Oil Pipeline Co., Ltd. Western Pipeline Branch and the industry's high-tech valve companies, a total of four specifications and 16 valves passed the industrial test site acceptance.

The major science and technology project “Localization of key equipment for oil and gas pipelines” was established by China National Petroleum Corporation in 2013. It is mainly engaged in the research and development of localization of five major categories of pipeline equipment, including oil pumps, key valves, actuators, and flow meters. Among them, domestically produced valves include 56′′ ball valves, key pressure regulating valves, forced-seal ball valves, pressure balanced plug valves, axial flow check valves, regulating valves, and nitrogen-based pressure relief valves.

The pressure balanced plug valve passed the acceptance test was developed by the Western Pipeline Company in cooperation with Sichuan Jingkong Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Fangzheng Valve Co., Ltd. and Raymond Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The product has optimized the plug sealing structure to reduce the opening torque; the surface of the plug adopts a proprietary treatment process to improve the wear resistance, erosion resistance and self-lubrication; the self-designed pressure relief valve inside the plug is used to avoid the medium Particle impurities enter the upper cavity of the valve body and overpressure.

Axial flow check valves were developed by Western Pipeline Co., Ltd. and Zigong Xindi Pell Valve Co., Ltd., Suzhou Neway Valve Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Kete Industrial Valve Co., Ltd. The product has improved the sealing and cushioning function of the piston type composite sealing structure; the valve stem bush adopts special processing technology, and the valve flap adopts anti-rotation, anti-disengagement and double guide support technology.

At present, the two products have been industrially applied in the west-to-east line of the West-East Gas Pipeline and the western section of the second-line. The longest running time of a single piece of equipment is more than 15,000 hours.

With the continuous breakthrough of the “localization of key equipment for oil and gas pipelines” project, localization of key equipment has been achieved, the construction and operating costs of long-distance transmission pipelines have been reduced, and favorable conditions have been created to ensure the safe and smooth operation of oil and gas pipelines.
