Difficult industrialization

Since the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued the latest version of the access regulations for new energy vehicles, the development path for new energy vehicles is further clarified. The rules stipulate that from July 1 this year, hybrid passenger cars produced from nickel-metal hydride batteries will be classified as mature products that are allowed to be sold nationwide. However, behind the prosperity of the faction, it is difficult to hide the crisis of the lack of industrialization of components. Li Wanli was quite worried about the industrialization of key components of new energy vehicles in an interview with a CBN reporter. “The industrialization of power batteries, motors, and the localization of basic raw materials are two areas because there is no basis for industrialization. It is difficult to meet the goals of industrial planning."

He believes that although basic materials, in particular, are rich in domestic resources, basic sources such as lithium iron phosphate are still mainly dependent on foreign countries. Localization of basic raw materials is an important issue in industrialization.

Anxious

The road to industrialization of domestic independent auto parts enterprises has caused difficulties for some domestic auto makers to be anxious.

A senior technology manager of Great Wall Motor stated that the key components of new energy vehicles, such as the key transmission modules, motors and electronic control systems, are monopolized by international giants. Although domestic companies are researching and developing, it is difficult to meet the requirements of OEMs. "For example, the power battery for new energy vehicles is mostly produced by hand-made production methods for mobile phones, notebook computers and bicycle battery manufacturers. This kind of simple integrated product cannot meet industrialization requirements."

The Chongqing Changan Automobile Group, which has been successfully running through demonstrations such as the Olympics and brewing in terms of new energy vehicles, is deeply anxious about the current problems of upstream suppliers. Ren Yong, deputy general manager of Chongqing Changan Automobile Group New Energy Automobile Company, told the reporter that for auto companies, the current domestic auto parts companies need to improve their product reliability and consistency, mainly battery consistency.

Second, because there is no mass production, the cost is relatively high, and the batch production process needs to be improved. In addition, the scale of production capacity of electric vehicle parts suppliers is generally relatively small, there is no large-scale production capacity, production preparation cycle is relatively long, usually to reach 3 to 5 months, a far cry from the requirements of the automotive industry (2 weeks). The after-sales service of spare parts is not perfect. The supplier has no relevant experience in the automotive industry and lacks understanding of the application of power batteries in automobiles.

“From the current understanding of the entire battery industry, many battery companies have done a lot of in-depth research on battery cells, and China's single battery is better in the world, in the process of the battery pack and thermal management are relatively large The gap." Ren Yong said.

Ouyang Minggao, head of the National 863 Program’s Energy Efficiency and New Energy Vehicles Overall Expert Group, admits that although there are energy conservation and emission reduction targets, the biggest challenge in this process is independent innovation, and it is easy to achieve a reduction standard. What is difficult is the goal of moving from a big car country to a strong country.

To this end, Ren Yong proposed a solution and hopes that the battery industry's production companies can use the vehicle or intermediate system supplier to do a good job in battery application, and form a strategic alliance to jointly improve the ability to resist risks.
