According to reports, the 8AT automatic transmission is an abbreviation for an electronically controlled hydraulic automatic transmission with eight forward gears (hereinafter abbreviated as 8AT). Before this, a few countries such as Germany, Japan, and the United States had mastered the current state-of-the-art automatic transmission technology in the world and imposed long-term technical blockades on China. According to statistics, the annual cost of purchasing a foreign transmission in China is as high as 20 billion yuan. Guo Mingzhong, deputy director of Shengrui Engineering Research Institute, told reporters that foreign automatic transmissions have formed an absolute monopoly in China, and domestic companies can not buy more than 6AT products.
Guo Mingzhong said that since 2007, Sunry Drive has jointly developed high-end automatic transmissions with completely independent intellectual property rights, such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany, and Ricardo in the United Kingdom. It fills the gap in the research, development and production of AT automatic transmissions over 6 blocks in China. It is understood that the transmission achieves eight forward gears and one reverse gear with the cost of five shifting elements and a five-speed transmission, and consumes 16% less fuel than a widely used four-speed transmission. Calculated on the basis of installed capacity of 400,000 units, it can save 128 million liters of gasoline annually, equivalent to 136,500 tons of standard coal, and reduce the exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides to 18,600 tons.
According to Liu Xiangwu, chairman of Shengrui Drive, there will be 1,000 8ATs in the market in 2012, and an annual production capacity of 400,000 units in 2015. At the same time, Shengrui has started the development of four-wheel drive 8AT-300 and hybrid 8AT-300 according to customer requirements. It will also develop compact 8AT-200 A-class passenger car, urban buses and bus 9AT, forming a variety of high-end automatic The transmission product series will gradually build an annual production capacity of 1 million units.
