2011 Guangdong Auto Parts Market Export Analysis Report

The export value of Guangdong auto parts maintained a positive year-on-year growth for 26 consecutive months, and the export value in December last year reached a monthly high since 2008. In addition to February, the monthly export value of auto parts in Guangdong remained at a relatively high level of over 200 million U.S. dollars in 2011, and the number of exports for the 26 consecutive months since November 2009 was positive year-on-year. Among them, December exports were 260 million US dollars, an increase of 24.6% year-on-year, the highest monthly value since 2008.

General trade is the main export method, accounting for over 60% of the total. In 2011, Guangdong exported 1.73 billion U.S. dollars of auto parts by general trade, an increase of 22%, accounting for 64.2% of the total export value of auto parts in Guangdong during the same period; during the same period, it exported 870 million U.S. dollars in terms of processing trade, an increase of 19.7%, accounting for 32.4%.

Main exports to the United States, the European Union and Japan, and positive growth in exports to the top three markets. In 2011, Guangdong exported 630 million U.S. dollars of auto parts to the United States, an increase of 23.4%; it exported 380 million U.S. dollars to the EU, an increase of 22.6 percent; and exported 370 million U.S. dollars to Japan, an increase of 14.1 percent; and exports to the above-mentioned three major markets were realized year-on-year. increase. Exports of foreign-invested enterprises account for half of the country’s total exports and are growing rapidly. In 2011, foreign-invested enterprises in Guangdong exported 1.56 billion U.S. dollars worth of auto parts, which represented an increase of 22.4%, accounting for 58.1% of the total value of auto parts exports in Guangdong over the same period. With the exception of export vehicle accessories, body parts, wheels and their accessories, the export of electrical lighting devices and electrical audio signal devices has grown rapidly. During the same period, electrical lighting devices and electrical audio signal devices exported 180 million U.S. dollars and 70 million U.S. dollars, respectively, an increase of 52.4% and 54.8%, respectively. In addition, the export value of high-tech automotive parts is still not high, such as automatic transmission only exports 22.95 million US dollars, down 32.6%.

According to the analysis, the reason for the growth of export auto parts in Guangdong in 2011 was the growth of consumption in major auto markets, which stimulated the growth in auto parts demand. In 2011, the world's major automotive consumer market showed a growth trend. Data show that in 2011, US auto sales reached 12.8 million units, up 10% year-on-year; during the same period, Brazil’s auto sales totaled 3.43 million units, up 2.9% year-on-year; German auto sales surpassed 3.17 million units, up 8.8% year-on-year. The warming of the major auto market has directly driven the export of auto parts in Guangdong to maintain growth.
