Lincolnwood 2-11 Alarm house fire 2-14-11 update

In the early stages of the operation, heavy smoke could be seen billowing out from every possible opening in the "B Sector." Firefighters were working hard to control the situation and prevent further spread.  As operations progressed, Northfield firefighters were seen maneuvering a 2 1/2-inch hose line into one of the window wells on the "B Sector." It was a challenging task, requiring precision and teamwork.  Suburban firefighters received assistance from members of Chicago Squad 2 as they worked to break through walls in the "B Sector" to gain access to different rooms in the basement. The collaborative effort was crucial in managing the intense fire.  Firefighters within the "B Sector" faced numerous challenges in getting enough water into the basement. The fire was relentless, and their efforts were critical in containing it.  Chicago Squad 2 firefighters used sledgehammers to demolish the brick facade at the rear of the building, creating an opening to access the basement. Their determination was evident as they pushed forward against the raging flames.  Niles firefighters tackled the fire in the basement with a handheld hose line. Despite encountering significant resistance, they managed to keep pushing back the flames, ensuring the safety of everyone involved.  A closer look inside the kitchen revealed a makeshift solution—a roof ladder placed over a hole in the floor. It was a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the firefighting team.  Before departing Lincolnwood to return to the city, members of Chicago Squad 2 posed for a group photo with the 10th Battalion. It was a moment of camaraderie amidst the chaos of the day’s events. This incident highlighted the dedication and teamwork required in firefighting operations. Each member played a vital role in overcoming the obstacles presented by the fire, ultimately achieving a successful outcome.
