Addison Fire District Station 2

Addison Fire District Station 2

Recently, I had the chance to visit Division 12 and explore the Addison Fire District No. 1, which operates out of three different fire stations. This department is responsible for covering an area of 13 square miles, and their fleet includes one ladder truck, three fire engines, three ambulances (also known as medic units), and a battalion chief vehicle. Unfortunately, during my visit, I only managed to capture a limited number of photos due to time constraints. Some of the images you see here were actually taken from scenes at recent fires, but I’m hoping to replace them with better-quality shots once I get the chance to return and take new pictures.

The Addison Fire District uses Medtec Type I ambulances and E-ONE fire engines. Two of their engines are mounted on Cyclone chassis, while their latest acquisition features a Spartan Gladiator chassis. Their primary aerial ladder truck is a Pierce 100-foot tower ladder, with an E-ONE tower ladder kept in reserve. Interestingly enough, their E-ONE tower ladder is quite unique in this region. For many years, the most popular model sold by E-ONE has been the 95-foot rear-mount tower ladder. However, Addison Fire District was among the few departments in the U.S. that opted for a newer E-ONE model back in 1993, choosing a longer tower ladder with a reach of 105 feet. Although the 105-foot model was eventually replaced by the HP100 (100-foot) tower ladder over ten years later, Addison’s decision to go with the extended version makes their setup stand out.

One of the highlights of my visit was seeing their impressive E-ONE engine up close. As shown in the photo above, it’s a powerful and reliable vehicle that plays a crucial role in their operations. Despite the challenges posed by the limited time available, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share some insights into how the Addison Fire District serves its community. I hope these images give you a glimpse into the dedication and professionalism of the firefighters who work tirelessly to keep everyone safe.

In conclusion, the Addison Fire District No. 1 is a well-equipped and vital part of Division 12. Their commitment to using state-of-the-art equipment, such as the unique E-ONE tower ladder, underscores their dedication to excellence. While there may still be gaps in the visual documentation of their fleet, I look forward to returning and capturing even more detailed images in the future. Stay tuned for updates!
