Tri-State FPD added to the site

The Tri-State Fire Protection District, located within MABAS Division 10, has recently been added to our website. This fire district operates across four stations, equipped with two advanced medic units, four fire engines, one tower ladder, and a battalion chief vehicle. Their frontline medic units are manufactured by Horton, while their suppression vehicles include a mix of Crimson, Pierce, and Smeal models. The district serves various areas including Darien, Burr-Ridge, Willowbrook, and parts of unincorporated DuPage County. Station 3 of the Tri-State Fire Protection District can be found at 10S110 Madison Street in Burr Ridge. It’s worth noting that Tri-State employs its own team of dispatchers who operate from Station 2. This station also houses one of their unique vehicles—a small Crimson squad with a rear pump, as captured in a photograph by Karl Klotz. Additionally, their fleet includes a Smeal tower ladder vehicle known as 539, which plays a crucial role in their operations. For those interested in their firefighting equipment, Engine 511 is another notable asset. It's a robust vehicle designed for rapid response and efficient firefighting. Interestingly, they also have a Pierce Arrow engine, now used as a reserve vehicle after undergoing significant rehabilitation several years ago. A delivery photo of this engine, provided by Larry Shapiro, gives us a glimpse into its past glory. Despite its current status as a reserve unit, the vehicle remains an important part of Tri-State’s history. As the district continues to grow and adapt, maintaining such historical pieces serves as a reminder of their commitment to service and safety.
