Addison is added to the site

I recently had the chance to visit the Addison Fire District No. 1 in Division 12, which operates out of three stations. Despite my limited time there, I was still able to get a good feel for their operations. The district covers about 13 square miles and maintains a robust fleet consisting of one truck, three engines, three ambulances (or medic units), and a battalion chief. Unfortunately, some of the photos I intended to take were missed due to the tight schedule, but I did manage to capture a few images of their apparatus from fires they responded to over the past year. These will eventually be replaced with more polished shots once new photos are provided. The Addison Fire District uses Medtec Type I ambulances and E-ONE engines. Two of their engines are mounted on Cyclone chassis, while their latest acquisition features a Spartan Gladiator chassis. Their primary aerial vehicle is a Pierce 100-foot tower ladder, with an E-ONE tower ladder held in reserve. What caught my attention was their E-ONE tower ladder’s uniqueness in the region. For many years, E-ONE's best-selling tower ladder has been the 95-foot rear-mount model. However, Addison Fire District was among the few departments in the U.S. that opted for a newer E-ONE model back in 1993, choosing a longer ladder with a 105-foot reach. Although the 105-foot model was later replaced by the HP100 (100-foot) tower ladder over a decade ago, Addison kept their original model, making it a standout piece in their fleet. One of their engines, which I managed to photograph, is an impressive piece of equipment. It’s a well-maintained E-ONE model with a classic look that speaks volumes about its reliability and performance. The image captures the engine in action, showcasing its sleek design and powerful presence on the road. It’s always fascinating to see how different fire districts tailor their fleets to meet specific needs. Addison Fire District clearly values both innovation and tradition, evident in their choice of vehicles and equipment. While I wish I could have captured more images, I hope these glimpses provide a meaningful insight into their operations. I’m confident that as new photos come in, they’ll further enhance the visual story of this dedicated team protecting their community.
