Working fire in Niles, 1-25-19

On Friday afternoon (January 25, 2019), firefighters in Niles responded to reports of an explosion at a townhouse located at 8839 N Washington Street. When they arrived, thick smoke was visible coming from the eaves of the building, and it was quickly escalating in volume. Fire officials promptly upgraded the situation to a working fire status. Firefighters managed to enter the premises and successfully extinguished the blaze. Mutual aid support was provided by emergency services from neighboring towns, including Morton Grove, Des Plaines, North Maine, Glenview, and Park Ridge.
