Deck fire in Prospect Heights, 8-9-18

From the Prospect Heights Fire District:
A structure fire was reported at the listed location, prompting units to respond. Upon arrival, crews were informed by dispatch that the fire had already been extinguished and was located on the rear deck. A subsequent investigation revealed that a smoldering fire from a planter box had fallen onto the rear balcony deck, igniting the wooden surface.
Firefighters removed a section of the deck board along with some trim work to ensure no further spread of the fire. They then thoroughly washed down the area and confirmed full extinguishment. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Companies on scene included: Prospect Heights Engine 9, Tower 9, Engine 39, Battalion 9, and Engine 900. Additionally, Wheeling Engine 23, Mobile Tower 13, and Mobile Engine 14 were also present.
