Still & Box Alarm in a Chicago scrap yard, 12-6-15 (more)

This is from Steve Redick:

On Sunday, I covered a still and box alarm at the intersection of Cortland and Kingsbury, an industrial area where a fire broke out in a large scrap metal operation. A massive pile of junk cars was burning. Since this location is right next to the river, Engine 2, the city's large fireboat, was dispatched to the scene. They eventually connected a 4-inch line to Engine 55, which then supplied a multi-purpose water stream. There were some discussions about using the boat’s larger firefighting equipment, and the “crows nest” turret on the rear of the boat was raised. However, there wasn’t a clear shot at the fire from the river side due to the structure and layout of the site.

Access to the area was very limited, and I was shooting directly into a bright, low sun, making for difficult conditions. Despite that, I managed to capture some interesting shots of the fireboat in action, as well as what I believe was an air monitoring unit deployed by the hazmat team. All the photos and video from this incident are available on my website.
