How to make wells with submersible pump normal operation
Submersible pumps are commonly used in two main types: flooded and oil-immersed. These pumps consist of a pump unit and a motor. To ensure safe and efficient operation, the following steps should be taken before use:
1. Before using the electric pump, use a megohmmeter to check the motor's insulation resistance. The minimum value should not be less than 5 megohms. To perform the test, connect one lead of the megohmmeter to the terminal block on the pump's cable and the other lead to the motor housing. Then, shake the megohmmeter and observe the reading.
2. Inspect the cable for cracks, abrasions, or any signs of damage. If any issues are found, replace the cable immediately to prevent electrical leakage.
3. For water-immersed motors, open the vent plug, fill the motor with clean water, and then tighten the plug before submerging it. For oil-immersed motors, if oil leakage is detected, replace the sealing components before submersion.
4. Before starting the pump, fill the pump casing with water and let it run empty for 1-2 minutes. Start the pump twice to check for normal idling and startup. If the rotation direction is incorrect, swap the two-phase wiring accordingly.
5. Check the suction pipe for cracks and ensure all connections are secure and tight.
6. Avoid pulling the pump when submerging or lifting it out of the water to prevent damage to the cable or the connection points.
7. Ensure that the supply voltage remains within 5% of the rated voltage. Excessive voltage can damage the motor, while low voltage may cause it to overheat or fail.
8. When submerging the pump, make sure it is positioned vertically, not at an angle, to avoid improper operation or mechanical stress.
9. Do not allow the pump to draw in sand, mud, or other sediments. For flooded motors, regularly clean the motor chamber and replace the water inside to maintain performance and longevity.
10. Ensure that the actual pumping height stays within 80%-100% of the rated head. This helps improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and prevent motor overload, which can extend the pump’s service life.
11. After use, clean the pump thoroughly, apply anti-rust oil to exposed metal parts, and store it in a dry, vertical position. For flooded motors, keep them submerged in clean water when not in use to maintain internal integrity.
