FAW Jiefang Xichai held a national product promotion conference in Shanghai

Since March 2006, the first FAW Jiefang Wuxi Diesel Engine Plant's Taiwan 3 engine was introduced to the Shenzhen market. Since then, the Xichai 3 engines have gained widespread recognition from leading companies such as Yutong, Golden Brigade, Xiamen Jinlong, Suzhou Jinlong, Huanghai, and Jianghuai. These engines are now in operation across major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Recently, FAW Xichai expressed strong confidence in the Shanghai market and held a national-level product promotion event in the city. At the conference, users praised the "Timble" performance, environmental friendliness, and reliability of the Xichai Guoji 3 engines. According to statistics, sales of Xichai’s 3 engines in the first eight months of this year reached 200% of the total sales from 2006. In October 2006, FAW Taihu passenger cars, supported by seven Yutong buses and six DL1-29E3 (Aowei) 3-engine models from Xichai’s 6DF3-20E3 series, were deployed into the Shanghai Bus Group’s Baoshan Bus and Lukai Long-distance Passenger Transport. To date, more than 10 bus and passenger transport companies, including Shanghai Volkswagen Group, Wujiang Guanzhong, and Jinjiang Business Travelling, have adopted Xichai-powered buses. These vehicles have become the backbone of the Shanghai 3-engine passenger transport market, capturing one-third of the domestic market share for similar engines. Baoshan Bus Company operates primarily within the Baoshan District of Shanghai, covering over 50 city bus routes, regional connections, and inter-county services. In the first batch of vehicles introduced in 2006, over 90% of the 106 buses purchased by Baoshan Bus in 2007 were equipped with Xichai engines. As the Director of the Baoshan Bus Technology Arbitration Committee and Head of the Vehicle Safety Inspection Station noted: “Xichai offers advanced technology and is highly reliable. Their 3 engines are quiet and have excellent dynamic response, making them a favorite among drivers.” He added that many of Baoshan Bus’s routes start in residential areas, and previously, noise complaints were common. After switching to Xichai engines, residents reported significant improvements. One of the buses, the Xichai 6DF3-20E3 model operated by Baoshan Bus, has safely traveled over 120,000 kilometers with excellent performance. Shanghai Lukai Long-distance Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. introduced 15 Xichai 3-engine Taihu passenger coaches in October 2006. The company is highly satisfied with the stability of fuel consumption and believes that the performance of Xichai’s 3 engines is comparable to that of 2-engine models, while maintaining better fuel efficiency. The success of Xichai’s 3-engine products stems from their robust quality assurance system. Currently, Xichai offers six series—W, X, F, L, M, N—ranging from 80 to 460 horsepower, suitable for various passenger vehicles and light, medium, and heavy trucks ranging from 6 to 13.7 meters. These engines consume 3–5 liters less per 100 kilometers compared to similar domestic engines. For public transport users, Xichai provides dedicated service support, including local service outlets and personalized “nanny-style” care. At the recent promotion meeting, Xichai presented a range of accessories to Shanghai Baoba and Volkswagen to express gratitude to customers who have chosen Xichai 3 engines.
