FAW Jiefang Xichai held a national product promotion conference in Shanghai

Since March 2006, the first batch of FAW Jiefang Wuxi Diesel Engine Plant's Taiwan 3 engines was introduced to the Shenzhen market. Since then, Xichai's 3 engines have gained widespread recognition from leading companies such as Yutong, Golden Brigade, Xiamen Jinlong, Suzhou Jinlong, Huanghai, and Jianghuai. These engines are now widely used in major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Recently, FAW Xichai expressed confidence in the Shanghai market and organized a national 3-engine promotion conference there. At the event, users praised the "Timble" (likely referring to "Tianming" or "Tianli"), environmental performance, and reliability of the Xichai Guoji 3 engine. According to statistics, in the first eight months of this year, sales of Xichai's 3 engines reached 200% of the total volume from 2006. In October 2006, FAW Taihu passenger cars equipped with 7 Yutong buses and 6DL1-29E3 (Aowei) 3 engines, powered by Xichai’s 6DF3-20E3 model, were deployed by the Shanghai Bus Group’s Baoshan Bus and Lukai Long-distance Passenger Transport Company. To date, more than 10 bus and transport companies, including Shanghai Volkswagen Group, Wujiang Guanzhong, and Jinjiang Business Traveling, have adopted Xichai-powered buses. These vehicles have become a key player in Shanghai’s 3-engine passenger transport market, capturing one-third of the domestic market share for similar models. Baoshan Bus Company primarily operates within the Baoshan District of Shanghai, covering over 50 city routes, intercity connections, and suburban lines. In the first batch of vehicles introduced in 2006, more than 90% of the 106 buses purchased by Baoshan Bus in 2007 were equipped with Xichai engines. “Xichai has advanced technology and is very reliable,” said the Director of the Baoshan Bus Technology Arbitration Committee and head of the vehicle safety inspection station. “The Xichai 3 engines are quiet and have excellent dynamic response. Drivers prefer driving these vehicles.” He added that many of Baoshan Bus’s routes start from residential areas. Previously, residents often complained about noise, but after switching to Xichai engines, feedback improved significantly. One of Baoshan Bus’s Xichai 6DF3-20E3 buses has safely operated for 120,000 kilometers with excellent performance. Lukai Long-distance Passenger Transport Co., Ltd. used 15 Xichai 3-engine Taihu passenger coaches in October 2006. The company expressed high satisfaction with the stability of fuel consumption and praised Xichai’s performance, noting that it matches the efficiency of State 2 engines while meeting State 3 standards. Xichai’s 3-engine products have earned user trust due to their strong quality assurance system. Currently, the Xichai Guotai 3 series includes six models—W, X, F, L, M, N—covering power ranges from 80 to 460 horsepower. These engines support various passenger vehicles and light, medium, and heavy trucks ranging from 6 to 13.7 meters in length. They also offer fuel consumption that is 3 to 5 liters per 100 km lower than similar domestic engines. For public transport users, Xichai provides dedicated service agencies, including marketing specialists and local service centers, offering “nanny-style” one-on-one care. At the recent promotion event, Xichai presented a range of accessories to Shanghai Baoba and Volkswagen to express gratitude to users who have chosen Xichai 3 engines.
