Logic valves in the practical application of the selection and precautions

When selecting a logic valve, the system should be designed based on the required flow rate. For flows greater than or equal to 200 liters per minute, a two-way cartridge valve is typically recommended. However, for lower flow rates, specifically below 20 liters per minute, a threaded cartridge logic valve is more appropriate. Cartridge valves come in different configurations—those with and without a tail. The tail version often includes features like buffer and throttle functions, which can help manage pressure and flow more effectively.
There are various options for the valve core area ratios and spring stiffnesses, allowing engineers to tailor the valve’s opening pressure to meet specific system requirements. Some domestic plug-in components use O-rings between the spool and the valve sleeve, ensuring a reliable seal. However, this design may affect the response speed of the valve. Additionally, the control cover and spool contain damping holes of different diameters. Larger damping holes increase the reaction speed but may also lead to greater impact forces, while smaller holes reduce the impact but slow down the response.
If the logic valve's action could potentially affect the overall system performance, it's crucial to carefully select the orifice diameter. There are multiple types of control covers available, and each should be chosen based on the specific needs of the system. When designing the valve block, it's important to mark the positioning holes on the cover and assign unique codes to each port for ease of assembly and maintenance.
The selection of the logic valve should also consider the system's flow rate, pressure, and the flow-pressure curve. If the valve is too small, it may cause excessive pressure loss and lead to overheating. On the other hand, an oversized valve can result in unnecessary system complexity and economic inefficiency.
Two types of sealing materials are commonly used: fluorine rubber seals, which are suitable for phosphate ester-based hydraulic fluids, and nitrile rubber seals, ideal for mineral oil-based systems. Due to their ability to handle high pressure and large flow rates, logic valves are particularly well-suited for rapid hydraulic actuation systems. Both domestic and international manufacturers offer mature logic valve products, and their application potential in high-speed hydraulic valve systems is extensive.
