Wuzhong Group completed the national "863 Program" project

Wuzhong Group recently announced that it has successfully developed the CKX5680 CNC heavy-duty propeller seven-axis five-link turning and milling machine tool, a breakthrough in China's ship processing equipment with high precision and advanced capabilities. This project, led by Wuzhong in collaboration with Huazhong University of Science and Technology’s National CNC System Engineering Technology Research Center and Zhenjiang Ship Propeller Factory, was designed to address critical challenges in modern ship manufacturing. After three years of joint research and development, the "Big Mac" machine has been completed. It features a maximum turning diameter of 8,000 mm, a height of 2,000 mm, and can handle parts weighing up to 100 tons. The machine is capable of precisely machining propeller blades using both turning and milling functions, and it can process multiple surfaces of the propeller in one go. This ensures high accuracy in the shape and positioning of each part, significantly improving overall propeller quality. At a recent technical appraisal and product acceptance meeting hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, experts praised the machine for its seven-axis five-link combined machining capabilities, advanced control systems, and efficient surface processing technology. They noted that the equipment represents a major step in China's independent innovation in composite machining tools, filling a critical gap in domestic production. Many of its technologies are first-of-their-kind in China, and it provides high-performance alternatives for the production of aircraft and rocket engines, strengthening national defense and boosting related industries. Wuzhong Group, a leading state-owned enterprise specializing in heavy and super-heavy machine tools, has made significant strides in technological innovation in recent years. Its global competitiveness has improved, and its products have not only strengthened its domestic market position but also expanded into international markets. This year alone, the company secured over $17 million in foreign orders, achieving a milestone in some developed countries and regions. Experts from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, along with officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology and provincial science departments, attended the technical evaluation event, underscoring the importance of this achievement for China’s industrial development.
