Shandong Hengtong Chemical Co., Ltd. recently upgraded the cooling water system of its chloroacetic acid crystallizer, resulting in a significant reduction in water consumption and improved operational efficiency. The company estimates that this improvement will boost annual efficiency by RMB 360,000. For many years, the existing cooling system had several issues. Steam and water were simultaneously introduced into the jacket of the crystallization kettle, leading to frequent liquid impact problems. The steam self-regulating valve operated in a highly corrosive environment, which caused damage over time. This led to the porcelain lining inside the crystallizer being blown off, and the kettle body eventually developed holes due to strong acid corrosion. As a result, cooling water leaked into the reaction material, causing contamination and product loss, along with environmental pollution. To address these challenges, the company implemented a major system overhaul. The cooling water system was redesigned from a closed-loop to an open-loop configuration, and a hot water tank was added to raise the temperature. During the cooling process, the circulating cooling water is still used to control the steam valve, which helps extend the lifespan of the crystallizer and significantly reduces acid-related external drainage pollution. This transformation not only improves the safety and reliability of the production process but also supports the company's long-term sustainability goals by minimizing waste and environmental impact.
