Anritsu has launched the first handheld mobile WiMAX test solution, specifically designed to support the deployment, installation, and maintenance of mobile WiMAX networks. This innovative tool integrates seamlessly with Anritsu’s BTSMaster and SpectrumMaster platforms, allowing field engineers, technicians, and contractors to conduct precise RF, demodulation, and over-the-air (OTA) measurements on WiMAX signals.
To offer greater flexibility, the mobile WiMAX measurement capability is available in three distinct options. The Mobile WiMAX RF Measurement Option enables users to assess transmitter signal strength and waveform characteristics. When enabled, these handheld analyzers can perform channel spectrum analysis, power versus time (for frame lengths of 5ms and 10ms), and adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) measurements. It also provides a detailed table-based interface for comprehensive results.
The Mobile WiMAX Demodulation Option allows engineers to analyze OFDMA signals and evaluate modulation performance. The display includes vector constellations (QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM), spectral flatness, EVM vs. subcarrier relationship, EVM pair symbol relationship, DLMAP with automatic decoding, and a detailed modulation results table.
The Mobile WiMAX Air Interface Measurement Option supports channel power monitoring, enabling users to analyze power over time and within specific intervals for a given channel. This feature can be paired with GPS functionality to include location and time data in measurements, making it ideal for mapping. Anritsu's MasterSoftwareTools software simplifies integration with MapInfo Professional and Microsoft MapPoint.
These options are compatible with the MT8222A BTSMaster and the SpectrumMaster MS2721B, MS2723B, and MS2724B analyzers. The MT8222A weighs under 9 pounds, making it the smallest, lightest, and most cost-effective handheld solution for full 2G/3G/4G base station testing. The MS272xB series offers ultra-portable spectrum analysis up to 7.1GHz, 13GHz, and 20GHz, with excellent sensitivity and multiple resolution bandwidths, making them perfect for demanding field conditions.
By introducing mobile WiMAX test and analysis capabilities, Anritsu continues its dedication to accelerating the development of new technologies. Earlier this year, Anritsu released the world’s first handheld fixed WiMAX test solution, and it also offers test solutions for the design and manufacturing of WiMAX devices and systems.
At launch, the lead time was 4–6 weeks after order receipt, and it was reduced to 2–4 weeks after two months.
