After over a year of rigorous testing and field use, the "Yonggong Pai No.1" ship, designed by the Yangtze River Shipping Design Institute under China Yangtze River Shipping Group, has successfully met the demanding requirements for large-scale river remediation projects along the Yangtze River. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in the design of inland and coastal vessels, filling a critical gap in China's shipbuilding industry.
With the rapid economic growth of the Yangtze River Basin, the development of the "Golden Waterway" has become a top priority for both the government and local authorities. Efforts to improve key waterways have intensified, with a strong emphasis on modernized infrastructure and advanced construction techniques. To meet the needs of soft foundation riverbed reinforcement in channel improvement projects, the China Changhang Yangtze River Ship Design Institute was entrusted with the task of developing the first specialized paving vessel for the Yangtze River.
The vessel measures 59.5 meters in length, 18 meters in width, 3.2 meters in depth, and has a working width of 22 meters. It is equipped with high levels of automation, precise positioning systems, and user-friendly controls. Its positioning accuracy and joint alignment precision of 0.5 meters far exceed current standards for paving operations. The introduction of this ship has significantly boosted construction efficiency, allowing for the placement of up to 9,900 square meters per day. As a result, the cost per square meter has been reduced by 0.4 yuan.
The ship has been successfully deployed in the Yichang Rouge Dam Project and the Anqing Dongliu Channel Improvement Project near Gezhouba. Its performance has fully met all design specifications, earning high praise from the construction teams and passing expert reviews organized by the Ministry of Communications.
In July of this year, the institute also took on the design of four 40-meter-long paving ships intended for use in coastal areas. These new vessels will further expand the application of advanced technology in river and coastal engineering. The successful commissioning of the "Yonggong Pai No.1" highlights China Changhang’s continued leadership in the field of specialized ship design, reinforcing its reputation as an innovator in the maritime and civil engineering sectors.
